Pre Primary & Primary Ballet Class Award

The Class Award is conducted in examination conditions, it is an assessment rather than a marked examination. The children enter and dance as a group, and are assessed and receive a level of achievement for technique, music, and performance. The Class Award is intended as an introduction to the examinations they will sit in Grade 1 and above. All students will receive a Certificate for their achievement.

Pre Primary and Primary usually sit their Class Award around the end of Term 4.  

Seminar and exam times will be advised once all entries have been received by RAD and processed.  

​

In preparation for the Class Award, there is one Seminar (Exam Practice).  The students will go through their assessment material in one 45-minute session. They will cover all their Class Award syllabus work and will learn how to best present themselves in the assessment environment.

​

The sessions will be held in the examination studio (Studio 1). The students will be working in their designated exam groups; for this reason, it is important that all students attend both sessions.  

​

Regulation RAD Uniform is required.  See our uniform page for further details.

 

AAD staff will put all students' hair into a RAD regulation bun with students providing all the materials (hair ties and clips matching their hair colour) as stated below:

  • Hairbrush and comb

  • Gel

  • Hair ties

  • Bun or hair nets

  • V clips

  • Closed clips

RAD Ballet Grade 1-5 Examinations

The graded examinations are the culmination of all the work the students have been doing in class this year. RAD exams are conducted in a very positive way and will encourage our students to see that hard work will produce rewards. 

​

In preparation for the examinations there is a 3-day seminar prior to the exam. Both the seminar and exam are held first week of the Term 3 School Holidays annually.  Seminar and examination times will be advised once all entries have been received and processed by RAD. Examinations will be held during the day between 9.00am – 5:00pm.    

​

The students will go through their examination material with 2 x 45 minute classes per day. One class they will go through all the exam exercises under exam conditions, and the other class will focus on their grade dance where they perform their dances individually.  This seminar is compulsory for all students sitting their exam.

​

The sessions will in the main part be held in the exam studio, with live accompaniment from the exam pianist. The students work in their designated exam groups; for this reason it is important that all students attend every session.

​

NZAMD Contemporary Examinations

The examination is an important part of our program for all our dancers. It is held in an affirmative environment, which the dancers will find valuable and enjoyable, and provides an opportunity for them to be rewarded for all their hard work.

​

Contemporary exams are held around August/September annually.  Times will be allocated to each group for rehearsal and exam once all registrations have been received and collated by NZAMD.

​

There will be one exam rehearsal, which is compulsory in order for the students to become accustomed to working in the exam studio, and in their examination groups. Introduction and Preparatory levels will rehearse for 60 minutes, Levels 1-5 for 75 minutes.

​

Regulation NZAMD uniform is required with the students' hair in a low ponytail or neatly off their face. See our uniform page for further details.

IDES Junior Jazz Class Award

The Class Award is conducted in examination conditions, it is an assessment rather than a marked examination. The children enter and dance as a group, and are assessed and receive a level of achievement for technique, music and performance. The Class award is intended as an introduction to the examinations they will sit in Grade 1 and above. All students will receive a Certificate for their achievement.

IDES Junior Jazz sit their Class Award at the same time as the remainder of the jazz school which is August/September annually.  Seminar and exam times will be advised once all entries have been received and processed.  

​

In preparation for the Class Award there is 1 Class Award rehearsal.  The students will go through their assessment material in one 45 minute session. They will cover all their Class Award syllabus work and will learn how to best present themselves in the assessment environment.

​

The sessions will be held in the examination studio (Studio 3). The students will be working in their designated exam groups; for this reason it is important that all students attend both sessions.  

​

Regulation IDES Uniform is required.  See our uniform page for further details.

Students to arrive to both the rehearsal and exam with their hair completed at home as per the designed set out below:

​

Hair in a Half up/Half down style using one or two gathers depending on thickness of hair, ensuring any fringe or wisps are sprayed or clipped back off the face, Then all hair gathered into a low pony tail at the bottom using appropriate hair colour or clear bands/clips.

​

If your/your child’s hair is too short for this, please make sure it is tied up or combed/sprayed, and off the face, using appropriate hair colour or clear bands/clips.

​

IDES Jazz Grades

The graded IDES examinations are the culmination of all the work the students have been learning in class throughout the year. IDES exams are conducted in a very positive way and will encourage our students to see that hard work will produce rewards. 

​

IDES exams are held August/September annually with one rehearsal prior to the examination held during the weekend.  Seminar and exam times will be advised once all entries have been received and processed.  

​

There will be one exam rehearsal, which is compulsory for students to attend in order for them to become accustomed to working in the exam studio, and in their examination groups.

​

There will be one exam rehearsal, which is compulsory in order for the students to become accustomed to working in the exam studio, and in their examination groups. Pre Grade 3 will rehearse for 60 minutes, Levels 1-7 for 75 minutes.

​

Regulation NZAMD uniform is required with the students arriving with their hair in a low slicked back pony tail.  See our uniform page for further details.

RGM Hip Hop

The RGM examination are the culmination of all the work the students have been learning in class throughout the year. RGM exams are conducted in a very positive way and will encourage students to showcase their talents.

​

Hip Hop exams are held around July/August annually.  Times will be allocated to the each group for rehearsal and exam once all registrations have been received and collated by RBM.

​

There will be one mock exam rehearsal, which is compulsory in order for the students to become accustomed to working in the exam studio, and in their examination groups. Students are to arrive 30 minutes before their scheduled mock exam time to allow time for warm up before taking the mock exam.

 

Regulation AAD uniform is required with the students arriving with their hair in a high slicked back pony tail.  See our uniform page for further details.
