You need JavaScript enabled to view it Students from Intermediate Foundation to Advanced 2 are invited to register for our inaugural 2011 Summer School. The five day AAD Summer School 2011 is available for students from RAD Intermediate Foundation or equivalent and above. Four levels will be offered.Intermediate Foundation, Intermediate, Advanced Foundation, Advanced 1 & 2 Levels may be combined depending on the numbers of registrations. Class size is limited to 24, so please get your registrations in early so as not to be disappointed. The cost of the AAD Summer School 2011 is $395 for the week. A non-refundable $75 deposit must be paid by 1 November 2010, with the balance due by 1 December 2010. An early bird discounted fee of $350 is offered if paid in full by 1 November 2010. The AAD Summer School 2011 will include the following classes for all levels; 1- hr Body Conditioning Class 1 ½ hrs Classical Open Class 1- hr Repertoire Class 1 ½ hrs Open Contemporary Class (including Improvisation)
Refund Policy: A non-refundable deposit of $75 is required at the time of registration. Participants who withdraw from the AAD Summer School 2011 prior to the closing date of 1 December will be refunded in full. Students who withdraw after the closing date will be refunded their registration fee less the $75 non-refundable deposit. We reserve the right to make adjustments to the program/timetable and to amalgamate class levels if necessary.
Tutors will include: Carole Speirs, ARAD Adv T Dip , Auckland Academy of Dance Summer School Programme Director Carole Speirs is a Dance Educator/Freelance Classical Tutor and current Director of Ballet at Auckland Academy of Dance. She is a Vocational and Grades Examiner for the Royal Academy of Dance. She has taught young children through to tertiary level students in both open classical technique and syllabus classes.
Sarah Roe, New Zealand School of Dance, Wellington Sarah Roe is currently a tutor at the New Zealand School of Dance. A certified Pilates Instructor; she is also a guest teacher with the Royal New Zealand Ballet, Douglas Wright and the Royal Academy of Dance. Originally trained in Sydney, Sarah completed her training at the Royal Ballet School in London and was then invited to join the Royal Ballet Company. Sarah has worked with Darc San Dance Company and as a soloist in the Australian production of Phantom of the Opera. Sarah has also taught at the MacDonald College and Brent Street Studios in Sydney.
Sarah Knox, Footnote Dance, Wellington Sarah Knox graduated from the New Zealand School of Dance in 2001 with a diploma in Dance Performance, also winning awards for Best All Round Student and Promise in Choreography. She worked with Douglas Wright and Black Grace and in 2005 & 2006 travelled to Japan to perform as a dancer, vocalist and magician's assistant in a Resort Hotel. While there, she learned Nihon Buyo - traditional Japanese Dance. Sarah joined Footnote in 2006 and choreographed Kakushi Aji on the company for the 2008 Made in New Zealand season. In 2009, Sarah and Anita produced and performed their own show Into the Looking Glass which was part of the New Zealand Fringe Festival. Sarah has also been a guest tutor at the New Zealand School of Dance.
Body Conditioning Tutors Angela Gendall, Dance Pilates.com, Auckland Angela was a former dancer with the Royal Ballet Company in London. She now operates her own Pilates studio, Westmere Pilates, and is the founder of dancepilates.com. These two enterprises provide Pilates, Physiotherapy, Rehabilitation and Movement Education workshops to your dancers across the Auckland region. Susie Tate, Dance Pilates.com, Auckland Susie is a Pilates teacher and leading dance educator from the UK. She is a qualified Pilates and RAD teacher with a BA (RAD) and MA (Choreography) in dance. Susie has worked the Royal Ballet School, English National Ballet, Birmingham Royal Ballet, London Contemporary and Candoco. The latter, a leading disabled and non-disabled dance company, is where Susie became so impressed by the benefits of Pilates. She is now particularly interested in Pilates for young dancers and is in the process of developing Pilates and dance based conditioning classes for school children.
Vocational Seminar Auckland Academy of Dance hosts Two Vocational Coaching Seminars each year for students undertaking Royal Academy of Dance examinations from Intermediate Foundation to Advanced II level. Seminars are held in the second week of both the April and July School Holidays every year. Provisional dates for 2011 are; 26-29 April 201126-29 July 2011

Competitions The Auckland Academy of Dance Society hosts annual Jazz and Ballet competitions each year. Our competitions are finished for 2010. Keep an eye out for dates and entry forms for 2011. See our Competition page for further details and a current competition syllabus.
